Fix Holiday Lights Easily!

I ran up to Walgreens yesterday to pick up some pictures and grab some milk. While I was there, I was browsing around and came across this amazing little gadget. It fixes holiday light strings with just a click! We have a pre-lit tree and about 4 of the strings of lights had gone out. Ugh, what a pain! As we all know, finding the light that doesn't work is next to impossible, but with the Light Keeper Pro my husband had the tree lit back up completely in less than 5 minutes! I was amazed! Totally with the $10.99 I paid for it!

Best Beauty Tips I've Ever Received

In the last 10-15 years I've gotten lots of beauty tips, I think all women have. Some were useful, some not so much. I thought I'd pass on a few of my faves! 1) Leave face wash on. A lot of times when we wash our faces I think we rinse the face wash off too quickly. If it doesn't have a chance to work, you'll never get any results. When I shower now, after putting my shampoo on (to let it sit through my shower too!) I wash my face. I don't rinse my face wash off however until the end of my shower. I've found that this helps clean my face much better! 2)Baby Oil removes eye makeup. I was recently looking on Pinterest at different eye makeup removal recipes. Most were seriously elaborate and though their authors bragged about how much money they saved over buying the big name brands' makeup remover, their concoctions were still twice the price of good old fashion baby oil. It works fantastically, and is fairly inexpensive. Considering you only need a tiny drop to take off even the toughest mascara, a bottle should last a good long time! 3)Shampoo dry hair This one I don't use anymore because I only use Wen and it needs to be used with water, however if you still use regular shampoo and want to deep clean, I've found that if you begin by applying shampoo to your hair while it is still dry, working it around a bit, and then adding the water to lather it will clean better. I believe this was a tip I read that Heidi Klum wrote, but I could be mistaken about which beautiful model passed this on. 4)Highlight your eyes Now this tip actually comes straight from Carmindy, the makeup artist on TLC's What Not to Wear. I love her work, she does absolutely beautiful makeup. She also teaches the ladies in her chair to highlight their faces, specifically the inside corners of their eyes and just under the brow bone with their lightest shade of eye shadow. This really does help to brighten the face! Light highlighting on the cheek bones is beautiful too!

Best Hair of My Life!

I have never really liked my hair. I mean it's alright, I've seen worse of course but I've also seen much, much better. My hair is quite wavy in the back, mildly wavy in the front. Unless I straighten it, it's pretty much an unruly mess. It is also not particularly thick. I have tried just about every shampoo and conditioner combination on the market. My love of freebies and samples has made this possible. Then one day I was talking with my sister in law and she mentioned that she was thinking about trying Wen. I had never heard of it and decided to check it out. I didn't want to get locked into any delivery program, so I went to my trusty eBay and ordered up a bottle. It took me a little while to get the hang of it, but once I figured out what works for me and my hair, I was thrilled! This stuff really works! Now for me personally, I've found that I don't need nearly as much as the bottle recommends. My hair is half way down my back and with a regular 16oz bottle I use 6-7pumps for my whole head. Another thing I found out (the hard way) is that I need to thoroughly rinse my hair before getting out of the shower. The bottle says that it can be used as a leave in conditioner so at first I thought leaving some in would be alright. I was wrong. I have to be sure to rinse the roots really well, or my hair will look greasy. I really believe that Wen is worth the price. My hair has never been so soft or looked so nice! I can't imagine ever going back to regular shampoo and conditioner again! **This is my opinion. I am not affiliated with Wen nor was I compensated in any way for my review**

Quick Target Rant

I'd like to start by saying that Target is my favorite mass merchandiser. I seriously shop there 3-4 times a week. It seems like I'm always forgetting something and have to run back over there. Luckily, there's a Target about a mile from my house. Lately however, I've had a lot of problems with Target while checking out. I have been over charged fairly often, once a week or more, which is kind of insane! The checkers are busy talking to other employees while they're ringing up my orders and have been making mistakes because of their lack of attention. I find that really annoying and unprofessional. The other day, while I was checking out, a manager came up to the girl who was ringing my order. She began to instruct her on "proper bagging". Apparently, this means not double bagging and cramming as many items in a bag as will fit, no matter how heavy it gets. She was told not to bag my milk or anything else that can be carried. I asked if Target was going green and the response I received was "No we don't care about the environment, we just need to save money on bags. You have no idea how much they cost." Um, OK. Really? Well, that's great. To add insult to injury, while they were having this conversation the checker rang up my 1 Dr. Pepper 8 pack twice!

I have written a whole lot of reviews, and it's totally paid off! Each time I rack up 500 points I've been offered a choice between a $5 Amazon gift card and a $5 Lowes gift card. Saving Money When You Shop Online

I love online shopping. My mailman probably isn't a fan of my hobby, but I have to admit I'm a little addicted to the convenience! So what do I love even more than online shopping? Saving money on stuff I was planning to buy anyway, that's what! After I place item in my virtual shopping cart, but before I check out, there are a few sites I visit for promo codes. The first is CouponCabin.com. They have all kinds of promo codes and deals. The next site is RetailMeNot.com. They offer lots of promo codes, however their content is all user generated, so there are a lot of fake codes floating around. The people who run the site do a decent job of separating the popular codes from the unpopular ones, but I've had both kinds work for me in the past, so I always check though them all. Another great site for saving money online is FatWallet.com. Just like the others they have great ways to save at the virtual register! Happy Shopping!

Earn Gift Cards For Writing Reviews!

So I've belonged to this site for a while now, a couple of years actually, and recently they have started to offer incentives for writing product reviews. It used to be that every now and again they would offer a $5 Amazon Gift Code for 5 reviews in a given section. Now however they have a points system. Some categories are worth 25 points, some 50, and some 100 points! In the past week I've already earned $10 in Amazon gift codes! As soon as the reviews I wrote last night are approved I should have enough points for another couple codes! The reviews have to be at least 700 characters long, which really isn't all that much to write, especially if you feel strongly one way or the other about a product. Save $$ on Utility Bills

A friend recommended this to me a while back but I never really considered trying it until recently. I have to say, I'm totally impressed with how well it works! If you put a dry towel in your dryer with your wet load, you can practically cut drying time in half! I hate when I'm doing laundry and it takes twice as long to run a load through the dryer as it takes to run one through the washer. It just makes for poor time management! With the dry towel added to the dryer my timing is almost perfect! Try it out next time you're doing your laundry! It really does work!!

Earning with NCP

I recently joined a panel called NCP, formerly Homescan. Basically,it works like this: when I shop I use the scanner they sent me and scan all the items I buy. Every now and again they send me a survey to complete. I'm earning rewards points that I'll be able to redeem for all kinds of different gifts. Right now, I'm saving up for an iTunes gift card, but they have other gift cards, kids toys, household items & much more to chose from. This is a legitimate company, no scams. It was simple t set up the scanner and I scan items as I put them away so it really doesn't take much time at all. I've also found an added bonus, because I'm taking the time to scan the items and look at their prices, last week I found that I was overcharged by almost $20 at 2 different stores! (Just FYI it was Kohls and Target.)NCP also sent me a free bag in the mail the other day as an unexpected thank you!

Easy, Great Smelling Bath Paint!

I've been messing around with different ways to entertain my daughter in the tub because she has recently decided that the 10 tons of bath toys she owns are not enough reason to happily hop in the tub for bath time. I bought some shaving cream from the local dollar store, mixed in a few spoons of Kool-Aid mix (Which BTW I received money back for buying using Ibotta this week!)I mixed it up with a plastic fork, and then let my daughter use the fork as a paint brush of sorts to mush the fantastic smelling "paint" all over the sides of the tub. Not only did she have fun helping me mix up the ingredients but she got in the bath happily, with no arguments! It washed away easily and left no traces of the red Kool-Aid behind.

**I originally found this recipe on this blog, Growing A Jeweled Rose. I didn't take it quite as far as she did, and my daughter was quite happy with only one color of paint. Though admittedly, I never let on that there was an option to have more colors either, lol. This blog also has lots of other cool ideas for kiddos! It's definitely on my reading list!!

My New Fave Skin Care Products

Let me start by saying that I never dreamed that I would be still dealing with breakouts in my 30's. I always just assumed that I'd just grow out of it. Well, you know what they say about assuming! Here I am well into my 30's now and I'm still fighting zits like a teeny bopper before the first big dance. Ugh! So, I'd been eyeing those fancy dancy spinning facial brushes for a while and I finally broke down and got one. I settled on The Olay Pro X brush and exfoliating cleanser. Let me tell you, I have never been so impressed with a product for my skin! Even though it promises nothing about clearing up pimples, I saw a huge difference in my skin in just a week. I'm totally hooked now! I know the product is supposed to help with aging, so I figure it's the best of both worlds! I'm heading off wrinkles before they start and clearing up my skin all at once!
